The Central Coast Maternity Coalition is a group of mothers, midwives and consumers who are passionate about ensuring the provision of quality maternity care for women - before, during and after birth.
We fully support a woman's right to play a central role in making informed choices concerning the type of care she is to receive.
We highly value the role of midwives in providing primary care for women, and strongly believe that one-to-one midwifery care should be available, affordable and accessible to all.
We view birth as a normal and natural process.
We place the utmost importance on changing cultural perceptions of labour and birth from a horrific and unavoidable event to a positive and empowering experience.
We therefore see our role within the community to be twofold, centered on advocacy and education.
Our goals are:
1. To inform women of their choices for childbirth
2. To restore women's confidence in their ability to birth their baby naturally
3. To advocate for theprovision and expansion of quality maternity services on the Central Coast that will support these goals.
We meet every 1st Thursday of the month, so please contact us if you would like to join one of our meetings.
